Carnival Magic
Warm lanterns lit against a dark night sky over a crowd at a Thai festival

Kamala, Phuket — Monday, Wednesday, Saturday nights

Walk into forty million lights in Kamala

4.6 (362 verified reviews · GetYourGuide)

A Thai carnival park in Kamala where the River Carnival parade fills a stage over seventy metres wide.

The park opens only three nights a week, Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, 5:30pm to 11:30pm, so an evening here means picking one of those dates, not any night of your trip.

The lanterns, zone by zone

The lanterns, zone by zone

Every open night, the walk after the parade moves through six lit zones — some built for a slow stroll, some for the kids.

  1. 01

    Kingdom of Lights

The park's permanent light garden, part of the installation that holds the Guinness World Record for the most lights used in a permanent light and sound show.

  2. 02

    Festivity Square

A covered square that changes dress for the season — Christmas, Songkran, Chinese New Year — built for photos between the parade and dinner.

  3. 03

    Forest of Lights

One of the walking zones that fan out from the Kingdom of Lights, lit for the stroll after the parade ends.

  4. 04

    Garden of Lights

A second walking zone off the same illuminated network, timed for the hour between the parade and closing.

  5. 05

    Valley of Lights

Overlooked by the park's own panorama bar, this is a zone to see from above as well as from the path.

  6. 06

    JUMBOree Games Pavilion

A circus-themed arcade of games for all ages, with an elephant mascot working the room.

The park's own suggested itinerary has guests walking the lights from about 9:30pm after the 8:30pm parade, or from about 9pm after the 6:30pm showing.

The River Carnival, twice a night

The River Carnival, twice a night

A cast of over 150

The production carries a cast of more than 150 performers and a further 150 crew, built up over three years of development — aerial ballet, carnival dancers and animatronics on a stage that runs past seventy metres wide.

Figures built to be seen from the back row

Some of the parade's costumed figures stand up to eight metres tall, among what the park calls some of the largest procession barges and figures it has assembled for the show.

Two showings a night

The parade runs at 6:30pm and again at 8:30pm on open nights, watched from the Paradium seating area.

Nine Guinness World Records

The park holds nine Guinness World Records, including the record for the most lights used in a permanent light and sound show, verified in October 2021.

The Bird of Paradise buffet

The Bird of Paradise buffet

The ticket this page links to includes a seat in the park's main dining hall, timed around your chosen showing of the parade.

A spread of Thai dishes garnished with orchids, chilli and lime on a wooden table
A bowl of Thai red curry soup with shrimp, garnished with fresh coriander

A 3,000-seat hall

The Bird of Paradise is a fully air-conditioned, 3,000-seat banquet hall styled as an Arcadian temple garden, with three further halls kept for private groups.

Oriental and western dishes, side by side

The buffet mixes oriental and western dishes with Indian, vegetarian and Halal options served alongside them, so a mixed table can eat from the same room.

Other places to eat in the park

Beyond the main hall, the park also runs a Thai Lanna-style à la carte restaurant, a fast-food eatery, snack bars and an ice cream parlour for anyone not on the buffet ticket.
